A Famous Quote from Long Ago
"Putty and paint
make a carpenter what he ain't!"
(How true it is!)
When it
comes to painting, the final product is only as good
as the surface that a coating is applied to. Loose
and lifting paint or other subsurface imperfections will
cause top coat failure. I have seen this numerous
times when I am called out to redo another painter's
shoddy work. It may not necessarily
happen in the first few weeks or months,
but at some point there is going to be failure if
surface problems are not addressed. You can expect
it usually within the first year and a half,
depending upon environmental factors and the
quality and thickness of the top coat.
Not all
buildings or homes require the same amount of prep
work, such as caulking, scraping, priming, and the
amount of time spent with a power-washer or a piece
of sand paper. There is no one-size-fits-all
approach.
I have
learned by direct experience about surface factors
in the climates of four states, both interior and
exterior. We have solutions for all surface
conditions, from spider cracks in stucco using flex
primer, to efflorescence (milky white residue) on
stucco and concrete surfaces due to moisture
migration, and many other adhesion problems. We can also make hopeless
exterior wood work look near new again.
There
are different needs when it comes to doing prep
work. Some are purely for cosmetic reasons, and
others, more importantly, are for durability and
longevity. This is why there is a broad spectrum of
price ranges for painting your home, medical offices, apartment buildings
or commercial buildings. I will be glad to discuss all
options with you in detail during a free
consultation.
